What is a laminate and why does it matter?

Laminates are textiles which use a specific waterproof construction technique. The waterproof membrane is bonded to the outer fabric which provides a lighter weight and reliable solution to waterproofing. The benefits to you are 3 fold. 1) Water does not penetrate the outer fabric layer, instead it beads off. 2) Thanks to no water saturation, the trousers stay light even after a downpour and the weight is reduced due to less layers of fabric. 3) For venting, the waterproof layer has been cut through which means when the vents are open you feel direct ventilation to the body.
